Tasmania have thrashed the Cricket Australia XI by 114 runs to earn a bonus-point win to revive their flagging one-day cup campaign.

The inexperienced CA XI were never in the hunt, chasing Tasmania's intimidating tally of 7-334, and were bowled out for 220 in 46.4 overs.

Tasmania turned in a disciplined all-round performance with the ball, with five bowlers collecting wickets.

Rookie paceman Riley Meredith (2-26) made a double breakthrough in the opening overs, while allrounder James Faulkner (2-43) was a handful at times.

Only opener Jake Carder (54) and Clint Hinchcliffe (40) offered any significant resistance for the CA XI.

The win was set up by Tasmanian captain George Bailey who made the most of Hurstville Oval's short boundaries to score 126 from 100 balls, with nine sixes.

Alex Doolan contributed 83 while Australian wicketkeeper Matthew Wade was on track for the competition's fastest record before he was dismissed for 39 from just 16 balls.

Tasmania will need to win their final match on Tuesday against Queensland and hope other results go their way if they are to feature in the finals.
