Richmond have lost yet another premiership player for Saturday's AFL away clash against Port Adelaide.

The Tigers have scratched Bachar Houli from the trip to Adelaide as the backman continues his recovery from hamstring issues.

Houli has missed the past two games but was named for a return on Thursday night.

But come Friday morning he was taken out of an already depleted Tigers side.

"He didn't feel 100 per cent ready to play, so we felt that it was best to make a change," Richmond's football manager Neil Balme said.

Before the Houli change - he has been replaced by Connor Menadue - Richmond had made six changes to their side which was thumped by GWS last weekend.

Brownlow medallist Dustin Martin (suspension), captain Trent Cotchin (hamstring) and premiership-winning utility Jayden Short (elbow) were unavailable.

Their losses compound earlier injuries to decorated book-ends Alex Rance (knee reconstruction) and Jack Riewoldt (fractured wrist).

Richmond also dumped Dan Butler, Ryan Garthwaite and Oleg Markov.

But despite the wounded Tigers, Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley said it would be foolish to treat them lightly in the twilight Adelaide Oval fixture.

"There's some expectation upon what Richmond have got and what we have got," he said.

"If you look at it in the whole picture of things, we have got some players missing, they have got some players missing.

"It never counts for too much once the game starts."

But Port's injury count is far less severe than Richmond though frontliners Charlie Dixon (broken leg), vice-captain Hamish Hartlett (hamstring) and Jack Watts (broken leg) are missing.

Coach Hinkley didn't make any changes to his side which fell to Brisbane last weekend - the club's first loss this season.
