Tigers lose Prestia for Cats AFL clash

While Richmond onballer Dion Prestia is sidelined for Friday night, Geelong have had good news about injured defender Tom Stewart.

A fractured rib will sideline Richmond midfielder Dion Prestia for Friday night's AFL blockbuster against Geelong.

Prestia suffered the injury when Collingwood forward Travis Varcoe bumped him in the second quarter of Saturday's win.

He played out the game in obvious discomfort and the Tigers hope Prestia will only miss one match.

"We'll just give him the week and get him to a position where's he's more pain free," Tigers performance manager Peter Burge told the club website.

But the news is better at Geelong, with defender Tom Stewart a chance to play in Friday night's big clash.

There were fears that Stewart might be out of action for several weeks when he hurt his ankle in Saturday's win over Brisbane.

"I'm not ruling myself out, but it's still obviously pretty sore," Stewart said on Monday.

Meanwhile, Richmond plan for defender Bachar Houli to return through the VFL.

Houli has been out of action for two games because of groin soreness.

"The main goal, though, with Bachar is to make sure he can perform at his best and pull up well from match play towards the end of the year," Burge said.
