Tight chase in low-scoring Barbados Test

Sri Lanka face a tricky run-chase to win the third Test against the Windies and draw the series after a dramatic day in which Kusal Perera was hospitalised.

Sri Lanka face a tricky run-chase in Barbados to win the day-night Test against the West Indies after a dramatic third day in which Kusal Perera was rushed to hospital for scans following a fielding mishap.

In a topsy-turvy third day of the third and final Test in Bridgetown on Monday, the Windies were rolled for a woeful 93 in their second innings but fought back to reduce the tourists to 5-81 at stumps chasing 144.

That leaves Sri Lanka needing just 63 runs for a victory that would draw the series 1-1, but batsmen have found runs difficult to come by throughout the match and the Windies will be confident their pacemen can lead the way and seal a 2-0 series triumph.

The hosts had started the day in a strong position, capitalising on their first-innings total of 204 by dismissing Sri Lanka for 154.

But their second dig was dire, with 93 being their lowest-ever score against Sri Lanka and their lowest at Kensington Oval.

With the West Indies reeling at 9-82, Sri Lankan opener Perera chased an outfield catch from long-on but slipped as he went over the rope.

He crashed into an advertising hoarding, appearing to hit his ribs on the top of the signage.

Perera immediately clutched his chest and signalled for assistance as play was halted and the dinner break was taken.

An ambulance rushed on to the field of play to take Perera to hospital for a scan.

The Windies' hopes rest heavily with captain Jason Holder, who snared 4-21 in eight overs to go with his 4-19 in the first innings.

Holder removed opener Danushka Gunathilaka - caught by Devendra Bishoo - for 21, before Mahela Udawatte fell lbw to Kemar Roach for a duck.

Holder then dismissed Dhananjaya de Silva for 17, Roshen Silva - caught by Devon Smith - for one, and Niroshan Dickwella for six.
