Tinybeans strikes deal with US media giant

A Sydney company that offers parents a digital platform to share children's milestones is partnering with US media conglomerate Meredith Corporation.

Tinybeans, a social media platform for parents, is teaming up with US media giant Meredith Corporation in a bid to expand its user base.

The Australian company offers parents an online platform to document their child's progress and milestones and share them with family and friends.

Tinybeans said the deal with Meredith will provide access to 600,000 registered subscribers of the company's Parents magazine and website.

The deal comes only a week after Meredith announced it is buying magazine publisher Time for about $US1.8 billion ($A2.5 billion), with help from the private equity arm of Koch Industries - the energy conglomerate of the billionaire brothers Charles and David Koch.

Tinybeans chief executive Eddie Geller said the partnership would enable the company to expand its user base rapidly and increase revenue through a premium service where customers pay for additional features.

"This partnership is further validation around the Tinybeans proposition, audience engagement and growth trajectory," Mr Geller said in a statement.

"We're confident our strategy will yield additional results shortly."

The social media platform was founded in Sydney in 2012 by Stephen O'Young, Sarah-Jane Kurtini and Mr Geller, and listed in April.

Its shares reached a peak at $1.14 in August when it announced a marketing partnership with Nike's children's shoe subscription service EasyKicks.

But Tinybeans shares have since retreated, and plunged 10 per cent on Tuesday to 60 cents - markedly below its $1.00 share price offer in April.
