Titans chair steps aside, eyes ownership

Gold Coast chair Rebecca Frizelle has resigned from the position to join a group that is preparing to buy the up-for-sale club off the NRL.

Gold Coast business identity Rebecca Frizelle has resigned as chair of the Titans and joined forces with a group preparing to buy the NRL-owned club, according to News Corp Australia.

Frizelle has followed the lead of fellow board member and former owner Darryl Kelly in stepping away from the club to avoid any perceived conflict of interest.

The pair will head one of what is understood to be several Gold Coast bids vying to purchase the Titans, while a North Sydney Bears consortium is also in the race to buy the club.

Kelly lost $5 million in his first stint as Titans owner, leading to the NRL's takeover of the club two years ago.
