Gold Coast coach Garth Brennan's position has come under greater scrutiny ahead of Saturday's clash with Manly after the NRL's club board called for a review.
The Titans are second-last on the ladder with a 2-8 record, their worst start to a season in club history.
Rugby league legend Mal Meninga will oversee the mid-season review, which is expected to analyse the coaches, staff and players at the embattled club.
The announcement of the review is hardly likely to be welcomed by Brennan, who has come under fire following the Titans' poor start to the year.
"The board decided that a holistic review of our football operations was required to ensure the team and its supporters are being given the best chance to savour success in the NRL premiership," the club said in a statement.
Meninga, appointed late last year as the Titans' head of performance and culture, has had his role extended to oversee the review following the recent departure of head of football Phil Moss to Cronulla.
Second-year coach Brennan was given a one-year extension last season taking him through to 2020 and will be hoping for a positive result against the Sea Eagles to relieve some of the pressure on him.
The Titans have headed to Sydney without Queensland State of Origin representative Jai Arrow.
The 23-year-old strained a hip flexor at training on Thursday and was later ruled out of the Sea Eagles' clash.
The injury is unlikely to affect Arrow's Queensland's hopes however, with Maroons coach Kevin Walters to name his team for next month's series opener on Monday.
