Titans lose Peats for six to eight weeks

Gold Coast hooker Nathan Peats looks set to miss six to eight weeks after reportedly being diagnosed with a broken collar bone.

Gold Coast have been struck a blow with hooker Nathan Peats reportedly set to miss at least the first five weeks of the NRL season with a broken collarbone.

Peats will miss six to eight weeks after going down in his side's trial loss to the Warriors on the weekend, Seven News reported.

The Titans are facing a shortage at No.9 to start the season after back-up rake Pat Politoni suffered a broken arm in the same game.

Tyrone Roberts now shapes as a makeshift hooker for their season opener against the Sydney Roosters on Saturday week.

It's believed Peats will not require surgery and would have faced a season on the sidelines if he did need to go under the knife.

It's worse than expected news for Peats with the club saying on Tuesday they were hopeful it wasn't a serious injury.

Peats had his arm in a sling as he returned to Australia on Monday.
