Gold Coast NRL veteran Anthony Don says he was approached by club boss Graham Annesley to discuss coach Neil Henry after back-to-back horror shows.

Don revealed on Wednesday he had spoken casually about the coach with Annesley after the record 54-0 loss to Brisbane. But, he insists he and the playing group remain supportive of the embattled mentor.

The admission comes in a week when Henry's future at the club has been questioned, due to claims of a rift between the coach and some senior players.

Three weeks ago, the Titans had strung three wins together and dismantled defending premiers Cronulla to be knocking on the door of the top eight.

One narrow defeat and two disastrous losses have followed - Saturday's hiding at home to the Broncos was the club's biggest losing margin.

On Tuesday, the coach refused to deny he had been opposed to the high-profile signing of Jarryd Hayne, while News Corp Australia reported Annesley had met up to 12 players to discuss Henry's performance.

Don stressed he was behind his coach, but did let slip that questions were being asked.

"There was a conversation, it was just general chit-chat with Graham. It wasn't anything official - that's about it," the winger said.

"The playing group 100 per cent supports him; it wasn't him that was out there on the field on the weekend putting in that embarrassing performance.

"We were responsible for it - it's our fault."

Fan favourite Don is keen to salvage some pride on Saturday against St George Illawarra in Sydney.

"It's been a really tough week for our members and our fans; we owe it to everyone to make amends," he said.

Going against them is injuries to star halfback Ash Taylor (knee) and leader Kevin Proctor (hamstring).

Taylor was not part of the main group on Wednesday at training, however Proctor moved with freedom and could return against the Dragons.

Don said the team would need to somehow find the resolve that was in abundance last season, but had since vanished.

"When things haven't gone our way on the field, we've rolled up a bit whereas last year we were more resilient ... I can't really put my finger on it," Don said.

"We've all got to step up. We all know we have to get a lot better this weekend."
