On the lookout for a strike centre for next year, Titans coach Neil Henry opted for Wigan utility back Sarginson after an endorsement from Gold Coast forward Eddy Pettybourne.

"He's pretty quick, has good footwork and is very strong for his size," said Pettybourne, Sarginson's former Wigan teammate.

"I think he'll go to another level in Australia."

The 22-year-old Sarginson last played for England in the 2014 Four Nations.

The Perth-born utility believed an NRL stint was his best bet to break back into the English team now run by Brisbane mentor Wayne Bennett.

"I want to cement my position in the England squad and I think playing in the NRL with the Gold Coast will help me do that," Sarginson said.

"I came to Wigan to challenge myself and I really want to take it a step further now and challenge myself in the NRL with a really promising young side in the Gold Coast Titans.

"They have started the season really well, and the lifestyle is a lot different to here so I'm excited about that."

Sarginson adds depth to the Titans centres with young gun Nathan Davis and ex-Rabbitoh John Olive being developed this season.

Sarginson made his Super League debut at 18 years of age with London Broncos and moved to England heavyweights Wigan in 2014.

Considered a centre, Sarginson has also filled in for the injured Sam Tomkins at fullback for Wigan.

He has scored 21 tries in 58 games for Wigan.
