A toddler has died after being run over by his father's four-wheel drive in a driveway in a town near Brisbane.

A toddler has died after being run over by a four-wheel drive, driven by his father, in a driveway at a home west of Brisbane.

The three-year-old boy was struck by the vehicle outside the Samford Valley home.

He was pronounced dead at 3.30pm on Friday, Queensland Police told AAP.

The incident happened within the property and the forensic crash unit is investigating.
