Tokyo 2020 familiarisation for Hockeyroos

The Hockeyroos will head to Japan next month for a tournament designed to provide an indication of what conditions to expect at the Tokyo Olympics.

The Hockeyroos will build their experience of playing in Japan before the Tokyo Olympics by taking part in a four nations tournament in Osaka next month.

Hockey Australia confirmed the world No.3-ranked women's team will take on Argentina, the United States and Japan from September 12-16.

"It is an opportunity to acclimatise to Japan and expose our athletes to the conditions we'll face in Tokyo," said Hockey Australia high performance director Toni Cumpston.

The Kookaburras will also play in Japan next year as part of the men's preparations for Tokyo 2020.

The Hockeyroos squad will be announced on Monday.
