Tomic loses in Shenzhen tennis quarters

Australian fourth seed Bernard Tomic has been thrashed 6-2 6-2 by Thomaz Bellucci of Brazil in the quarter-finals of China's Shenzhen Open.

Fourth-seeded Bernard Tomic has been belted in straight sets by Thomaz Bellucci in the quarter-finals of the Shenzhen tennis tournament in China.

Tomic lost 6-2 6-2 on Friday to the Brazilian left-hander.

It was a disappointing outcome for the Australian after he had produced a composed performance on Thursday to edge out America's Ryan Harrison 6-4 4-6 7-5 in just over two hours.

In other last-eight results, Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia beat Tunisian Malek Jaziri 7-6 (8-6) 6-2 and No.3 seed Richard Gasquet of France downed German Mischa Zverev 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (7-2).
