Labor is hoping to capitalise on rumblings about Liberal MP Fiona Scott to recover the western Sydney seat of Lindsay she won at the last election.

Ms Scott won with help from then prime minister Tony Abbott, who famously declared her to be feisty and to have a bit of sex appeal.
Marcus Cornish, a councillor on Penrith Council, said she only won because of Tony Abbott's support for her campaign, including his "sex appeal" comment.

She holds the seat with a margin of three per cent.

"That got her across the line and she has turned around and stabbed him in the back, as many in the Liberal Party have done in NSW," he told ABC television.

That relates to Ms Scott's alleged support for Malcolm Turnbull in the leadership spill which toppled Mr Abbott.

Ms Scott said she has never declared who she backed.
Labor candidate Emma Husar said voters were angry.

"They're angry that they voted for somebody and they got somebody else and they're also angry that their local member supported Malcolm Turnbull and not Tony Abbott. They don't really enjoy Malcolm Turnbull as much as they enjoyed Tony Abbott," she said.
