How does former Prime Minister Tony Abbott unwind after a charity bike ride? By holding a private karaoke party.

Abbott threw a sing-along gala for his friends and crew at a regional NSW pub with the help of local radio personality Wes Heather.

"I thought it was a joke at first... He was just himself, an honest down-to-earth gentleman who just happens to love a bit of karaoke," Heather, who owns pop-up karaoke business Young Karaoke, told AAP.
Video of the event shows Abbott singing and dancing along to John Denver's country classic Take Me Home, Country Roads at the Family Hotel in Cootamundra wearing a custom-made collared singlet.

"Tony went out of his way to make sure everyone was having a great time... I now know why I voted for him," Heather said.
