Toowoomba play centre facing lawsuit

Concerns have been raised about the safety of a southeast Queensland play centre where a three-year-old boy died on the weekend.

The Toowoomba play centre where a toddler died earlier this week is being sued by a family over an incident almost a year ago where their son suffered a broken leg.

Three-year-old Hunter Young died in hospital on Monday after being found unresponsive at the bottom of a slide at Inflatable World Toowoomba on Sunday.

The centre is currently being sued by the mother of a boy who broke his leg at a birthday party there in November.

Kieran Seaton, 10 at the time of the incident, slipped over the edge of a "jump cliff" and landed awkwardly and only recently had plates removed from his leg.

His mother Renee Williamson, 36, told the Brisbane Times the accident had a significant impact on him.

"Behaviourally he did change," she said.

She criticised the lack of supervision and said staff members had told her Kieran was the fourth child to break his leg at the centre.

Shine Lawyers partner Katrina Pedersen, who is representing Ms Williamson, said the play centre had a duty of care to ensure the safety of all its patrons.

Theme parks can be held liable for injuries "when the risks of an injury could have been prevented or are reasonably foreseeable," Ms Pedersen said.

Workplace Health and Safety have launched investigations into the death of Hunter Young and Queensland Police have called for witnesses to come forward.

It's understood the boy, from Upper Coomera on the Gold Coast, was under the care of his grandparents at the time.
