Torres Strait islanders celebrate land handback

Torres Strait Islanders are celebrating after receiving communal freehold title to three islands central to the Mabo case.

Celebrations are underway in earnest in the Torres Strait tonight.

The Meriam people have just been granted communal freehold title to three islands central to the Mabo case.
