Outspoken independent senator Jacqui Lambie says it's about time the government used treason and sedition laws to arrest terror suspects.

"The Liberals are risking your security for political correctness," she says in a video released on Sunday.

On the arrest of five men attempting to leave Australia for Syria by boat last week, Senator Lambie told the Seven Network: "Why aren't they locking them away and throwing away the key and actually setting an example and saying that we're not going to tolerate this, zero tolerance."
