A tourist, aged in his 20s, has drowned at a swimming spot at Karijini National Park in Western Australia's north.

A tourist has drowned at a popular swimming spot in Western Australia's north.

The man, aged in his 20s, was swimming with friends at Fern Pool in Karijini National Park about 5.30pm on Thursday when he became distressed and disappeared under water.

He was pulled from the water unresponsive and could not be saved, police said on Friday.
