A Belgian tourist had been in Australia only three days when she was sexually assaulted while walking to her central Sydney accommodation.
The 25-year-old woman, who was on Victoria Street in Potts Point when she was dragged into a laneway and sexually assaulted by a man on Wednesday evening, is considering returning home.
The attack lasted a few minutes and the woman then sought help from staff at nearby serviced apartments where she was staying.
She was rushed to hospital, initially too traumatised to speak to police.
She was interviewed on Thursday morning but was unable to provide much detail about her attacker.

"All she can say is that she was attacked from behind and that she did not see the person at all and cannot describe him," Rose Bay Detective Superintendent Michael Fitzgerald told reporters.
Police don't believe a weapon was used.
The woman has met officials from the Belgian consulate and spoken to family at home.
"This was a horrible attack, it's an attack that I wouldn't foresee would occur in that area," Det Supt Fitzgerald said.
"It was horrific for this young lady to experience."
Police have seized CCTV footage and are confident it will yield clues.
The sex crimes squad is investigating and police are asking for anyone with information to come forward.
