Tourists hospitalised after NT bus crash

14 of 18 passengers on a tour bus that rolled in Kakadu have been injured but no one was killed, as police urge people to take care on the roads.

None of the 14 people injured in a tour bus rollover in Kakadu National Park have life-threatening injuries.

Some 18 people were involved in the accident which happened 13km from the township of Jabiru in the park on Tuesday night.

Nine were airlifted to Royal Darwin Hospital for medical treatment.

NT police Senior Sergeant Garry Smith bad weather initially delayed the transport of patients by CareFlight helicopter from the scene to the Jabiru airport for airlift to Darwin.

"None have life-threatening injuries which is a great result in a terrible incident," he told Mix 104.9 radio on Wednesday.

Police were still investigating the cause of the accident.

April to October is the peak tourist season in the NT and police are now urging motorists to slow down.

"Slow down and take it all in instead of trying to get from point A to point B at maximum speed," Snr Sgt Smith said.

The accident capped off a bad day for road accidents in the NT.

A man was killed and three others hurt on Tuesday after their car hit a horse near Tennant Creek and pastoralist Billy Hayes died after crashing his gyrocopter while mustering on his central Australian property.
