TPG Telecom has denied speculation it is in talks to buy New Zealand's third largest mobile network.

TPG Telecom has denied speculation it is in talks to buy New Zealand's third largest mobile network 2degrees.

The telco, which rarely makes any announcement other than to report financial results, issued a statement on Monday to deny reports by The Australian Financial Review and The Australian that a deal was close.

"TPG advises that it is not currently in discussions with 2degrees or its representatives," TPG said.
