Fairfax bidder TPG Capital will front a Senate inquiry into the future of public interest journalism on Friday.

The company's head of Australia and New Zealand Joel Thickins will appear at the inquiry in Melbourne on Friday afternoon.

Mr Thickins has kept a relatively low profile as TPG and Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan seek to buy the Australian media giant.
