Tradie 'close to breakdown' after search

Police say he's not a suspect in the disappearance of toddler William Tyrell, but William Spedding says the experience has left him close to a breakdown.

NSW police are examining several items seized from a tradesman's home and business in the search for toddler William Tyrell.

William Spedding, who says he has nothing to do with the case and has not been identified as a suspect by police, says the experience has left him and his wife close to a nervous breakdown.

The 63-year-old tradesman got caught up in the homicide investigation into the three-year-old when officers searched his properties on the NSW mid-north coast.

On Friday he said he had nothing to do with William's disappearance and was co-operating with police.

"We're both close to a nervous breakdown," Mr Spedding told the Nine Network on Friday.

"It's been very difficult.

"I wish to thank our family and friends for all the support we have received at this time."

Police are examining items seized from his Bonny Hills home and pawnbroker business in Laurieton.

The washing machine repairman visited the home of William's grandmother in Kendall, four days before the toddler went missing from the home on September 12.

On Friday he said he had nothing to do with William's disappearance and was co-operating with police.
