Transfield has rejected a report by an activist group that accuses it of human rights abuses against asylum seekers on off-shore detention centres.
No Business in Abuse, an organisation involving the Get Up group, on Tuesday released a report into the treatment of refugees on Manus Island and Nauru, accusing Transfield Services of violating international law.
The claims include allegations of abuse of children and pregnant women and violence against men.
A Transfield Services spokesman said the company rejects the report, which targets government policy over which it has no influence.
"We work to improve the lives of asylum seekers and operate to a strict code of business conduct, bound by Australian law and the laws of the jurisdictions in which we work. We reject any suggestion to the contrary," the spokesman said in a statement.
"We are committed to a welfare led approach to delivering services at the regional processing centres and are committed to the highest standards of probity and transparency in our operations.
"We have zero tolerance for abuse."
