Treasurer Scott Morrison says he expects enabling laws for the China free-trade agreement to get strong support in the Senate.

The laws passed the House of Representatives with Labor's backing this week and head to the Senate when parliament next sits in November.

"I never seek to lecture the Senate ... (but) the agreement we've been able to lead will get the strong support of the Senate because they know how important it is," Mr Morrison told reporters in Sydney on Friday.
