Alleged cat-burglar Di Miao will stand trial over a string of high-end burglaries around Melbourne.
The 52-year-old pleaded not guilty to 44 charges on Monday over the alleged spree.
He is accused of stealing luxury goods and cash from properties in affluent suburbs between 2013 and 2015.
Police allege a swag of items were found during a search of Miao's home, including designer handbags - Louis Vuitton, Hermes and Givenchy - several pieces of expensive jewellery and various electronic goods.
Detective Acting Sergeant Adam McNamara also allegedly discovered a "breaker's kit" during the raid in 2014, the Melbourne Magistrates' Court heard.
The black bag contained a dark wig, torches, gloves and a Swiss Army knife, the court was told.
"I said: 'What's the go with the wig'?" Det Sgt McNamara's statement says.
"He said: 'Had long time. Just for fun, Halloween'."
Miao was allegedly wearing a wig when police tailed him in Balwyn on November 26, 2014.
He was initially facing 58 charges over the alleged burglaries in Balwyn, Burwood, Kew, Clayton and Toorak, but Magistrate Suzie Cameron dismissed 14 of them on Monday after finding there wasn't enough evidence.
Miao has been bailed and committed to stand trial at the County Court of Victoria.
He is due to front a directions hearing on Tuesday.
