Following the tragic deaths of a young couple within hours of each other, a local rugby club has rallied to raised more than $30,000 in two days to return their bodies from Australia to their families in the United Kingdom.

"Although they felt like family to us all their true families live in the UK," the GoFundMe page, organised by the Cottesloe Rugby Union Football Club (CRUFC), reads.

"We have set up this Gofundme page to help the Francis and Robinson families with any costs that might be incurred in sending their loved ones home."

On Saturday 22 December, Jason Francis, 29, died in hospital after he was allegedly hit by an 18-year-old Domino's Pizza delivery driver near his home in Scarborough, Perth.

His partner, Alice Robinson, also 29, was by his side as he died. Hours later, Ms Robinson, who was said to be "heartbroken", was found dead in Mount Hawthorn.

Police are treating her death as non-suspicious.
In a Facebook post, CRUFC president Sam Diamond CRUFC said that despite the couple only being with the club for a short time, they had already "ingrained" themselves into the family.

"They could both be found at the multitude of offseason BBQ’s where Jase would always do his best impression of a competitive eater whilst Alice filled our hearts with her infectious laugh," he wrote.

Bridgnorth Rugby Club, one of the teams that Mr Francis was a member of when he was in the United Kingdom, also posted on Facebook that they are "totally devastated by his tragic passing".
"Anyone that ever played with him, will know what a fantastic sportsman and teammate he was, but it wasn’t just his sporting prowess - it was everything about him, his smile and his huge thirst for life," the post read.

The Go Fund Me has surpassed its goal of $30,000, but the CRUFC is still urging people to donate.

"Every dollar donated is going to help the families immensely," they said.
