Three people have been charged with murder following the discovery of a man's body in a national park in Victoria's southwest.

The body, thought to be that of 20-year-old Hamilton man Joshua Kane, was found in bushland at Mount Eccles, 45km south of Hamilton, at 4pm on Friday.

Mr Kane has been missing since January 23.

Two men, both 19, and a 34-year-old woman, all from Hamilton, were arrested after warrants were executed in Hamilton on Saturday morning.

The three were remanded in custody to appear in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court on Monday.

Friends of Mr Kane took to social media to remember him on Saturday, describing him as a "really nice guy".

One mate hinted at a darkness in the latter stages of Mr Kane's life.

"It feels like only yesterday we were laughing, sharing jokes, playfully insulting each other. Now I wish I took the things you said more seriously in the lead up to this tragedy," he wrote on Mr Kane's Facebook page.

Another wrote: "My heart goes out to your family and friends mate.

"I say this from the bottom of my heart that we won't be forgetting you anytime soon.

"Gone too soon, fly high buddy."

Another friend described Mr Kane as "a great man".

"I can't stop asking myself why this would happen, especially to someone as caring as you were, mate.

"Justice will be served, Josh. Rest peacefully".

Victoria Police has not confirmed the victim's identity.
