A funeral for Trooper Jason Thomas Brown killed in Afghanistan two weeks ago will be held in Sydney today.

Trooper Jason Brown, 29, from the Perth-based Special Air Service regiment, was killed by small arms fire while on a disruption operation in northern Kandahar.

A total of 21 Australian soldiers have died in Afghanistan, 10 of them since June this year.

Trooper Brown had over 10 years' service in the Army and although it was his first deployment to Afghanistan, he had been deployed three times in East Timor.
