Hundreds of truck drivers have descended on an Aldi store in western Sydney claiming the supermarket giant is compromising safety through low-cost contracts.
About 500 members and supporters of the Transport Workers Union protested outside Aldi's Mount Druitt store on Thursday morning.
The union accuses the supermarket chain of using its wealth and size to pressure drivers into unsafe practices in order to meet schedules.
"Wealthy retailers through their low-cost contracts are forcing transport companies and drivers to not maintain vehicles, drive long hours, speed and skip mandatory rest breaks," TWU national assistant secretary Michael Kaine said in a statement.
"Aldi is refusing to come to the table and discuss how they can improve safety in transport. We are here today to send them a loud message that this is not acceptable."

An Aldi Australia spokesperson told AAP the company "provides superior conditions of employment" and criticised the union for disrupting their businesses.
"ALDI strongly denies any suggestion that we place pressure on transport companies or truck drivers to operate unsafely," the spokesperson said in a statement.
"We work with our suppliers to set realistic and safe delivery timelines."
Thursday's protest comes a week after another at an Aldi distribution centre in South Australia.
The company said it issued a request for information relating to issues within the supply chain but the union did not respond.
Aldi then sought an injunction to prevent the union from hosting further protests but it was shot down in the Federal Court on Wednesday.
