A science teacher in the US state of Indiana who tackled an armed student inside his classroom is receiving widespread praise for his actions.
Jason Seaman was shot three times as he intercepted the gunman in a bid to protect his students.
Along with Mr Seaman, one classmate was wounded as the student, armed with two handguns allegedly opened fire during his science lesson at Noblesville West Middle School.
President Trump has hailed Mr Seaman as a hero, saying he saved "so many precious young lives."
The alleged shooter had asked to be dismissed from the class before returning with the guns.
Student, Ethan Stonebraker told ABC America he was acting suspiciously when he walked back into the room.
"Our science teacher immediately ran at him, swatted a gun out of his hand and tackled him to the ground," Stonebraker said. "If it weren't for him, more of us would have been injured for sure."
Mr Seaman was released from hospital a day after the shooting.
The gunman was arrested almost immediately after the incident.
