US President Donald Trump has offered encouragement to British Prime Minister Theresa May, who promised to quit if MPs approve the latest version of her Brexit deal with the European Union.
Speaking to reporters at the White House on Thursday, Mr Trump called Ms May a friend and said he wished her well with the "Brexit movement and everything happening there."

Mr Trump said: "She's a very good woman, and I'll tell you what, she's strong, she's tough, she's in there fighting."
The US president previously has made comments about Ms May and Brexit that were seen in Britain as insults that undercut the prime minister.
Earlier this month, he said he was "surprised at how badly" the Brexit negotiations were handled and that Ms May didn't listen to advice he offered her.
The prime minister's back is against the wall as she tries to keeping Britain's economy from imploding and the pound from plunging when a post-Brexit border splits the two tight trading partners.

Andrea Leadsom, the government's representative in parliament, said the new vote gave recalcitrant MPs the chance to secure Britain's delayed departure from the EU on May 22.
"I encourage all MPs to support it and ensure that we leave the EU... giving people and businesses the certainty they need," she told MPs.
The government is hoping that holding the vote on the day when Britain was meant to leave the bloc could win over some still sceptical MPs.
