Donald Trump will speak with Malcolm Turnbull from the Oval Office on Sunday morning.
The call at 9am AEDT is one of a series for the US President, with the Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Russian President Vladimir Putin and French President Francois Hollande also on the list.
Mr Turnbull on Friday said his government is in constant touch with the new administration and the relationship is very direct and engaged.
Mr Turnbull was looking forward to speaking with Mr Trump.
"I have had a very good discussion with him shortly after the election when he was President-elect Trump," he told reporters in Port Lincoln on Saturday.
"We have a great deal to discuss."
The relationship between the US and Australia gets stronger all the time, he said, expressing confidence it will be deeper during the Trump administration.
