Trump wants healthcare plan 'with heart'

President Donald Trump has called on Republicans to put some "heart" in their healthcare plan while urging Democrats to come on board with the bill.

President Donald Trump has told supporters he urged Senate Republicans to add more money to their healthcare plan because he wants a plan with "heart".

Trump told a campaign-style rally in Iowa on Wednesday night: "I've been talking about a plan with heart. I said, 'Add some money to it!'"

He also suggested he would be willing to change the bill Republicans were crafting if Democrats would come onboard.

He said "a few votes from the Democrats, it could be so easy" and "so beautiful".

Republicans have been working on a plan to repeal and replace former President Barack Obama's signature healthcare law.

Top Senate Republicans are expected to release the plan on Thursday.
