Trump won't "forgive or forget": Katter

Queensland independent MP Bob Katter says Australia and America's relationship has been damaged thanks to the prime minister's terse call with Donald Trump.

Independent MP Bob Katter believes the prime minister has "buggered up" Australia's relationship with America by engaging in a heated phone call about refugees.

US President Donald Trump reportedly fumed to Malcolm Turnbull in a recent discussion about a refugee deal Australia struck with the Obama administration in which hundreds of refugees on Manus Island and Nauru would be resettled in the US.

Mr Trump reportedly said it was the "worst deal ever".

Mr Katter believes Mr Trump won't forget the discussion.

"All our leader has done has buggered up our relationship with America," Mr Katter told AAP on Thursday.

"A guy like that does not get to where he is by being Mr Nice Guy," he said about Mr Trump.

"He won't forgive and he won't forget."

Mr Turnbull refused to comment on the details of the phone call when asked by reporters on Thursday.
