Jo Wilfried-Tsonga progressed to the semi-finals of the Open Sud de France in Montpellier on Saturday (AEDT) after defeating Russia's Daniil Medvedev 6-2 7-5.
The Frenchman and world No.14 required only one hour and seven minutes to secure victory, and next meets Germany's Alexander Zverev.
Tsonga's compatriot Jeremy Chardy had lost in the quarter-finals to Zverez, 6-4 4-6 6-2.
There were also quarter-final victories for France's Richard Gasquet, over his compatriot Kenny De Schepper 6-2 5-7 6-4, and fellow Frenchman Benoit Paire, over Germany's Dustin Brown. He was winning 1-0 when Brown retired with a back injury.
