Longtime Liberal MP Wilson Tuckey may have lost his hold on the West Australian seat of O'Connor after a determined bid by the Nationals to wrest it from him.
The Australian Electoral Commission website and the ABC on Saturday night had the seat going to the Nationals' candidate Tony Crook.
A spokeswoman for Mr Tuckey tersely told AAP he would not be commenting on the election result on Saturday night.
Mr Tuckey is as an outspoken MP known for his gaffes and colourful language.
The swing in O'Connor follows a bitter feud between the Liberals and the Nationals in WA.
The state Nationals had called on Mr Tuckey and the Liberal MP in the seat of Durack, Barry Haase, to give up their seats so that regional WA could get a "a better deal".
The Nationals announced they would preference Family First and the Christian Democrats ahead of the Liberals in their seats.
WA Nationals president Colin Holt said the party accused Mr Tuckey and Mr Haase of going to Canberra and doing more for the eastern states than for their constituents in regional WA.
Mr Tuckey said earlier this month that the WA Nationals were running such a "nasty campaign" that the federal branch was distancing itself from them.
"I think they're mad, and I mean a very senior official in Canberra said that's the view of the feds," he told AAP.
