A big nude photo shoot on a Melbourne supermarket rooftop will proceed after Woolworths changed its mind and gave the event the green light.
Famed US artist Spencer Tunick will photograph thousands with their kits off in the car park on top of the Prahran Woolworths on Monday, July 9.
The supermarket had initially refused the shoot, which was originally scheduled for a weekend, as it would impact customers too much at a busy time.
But the Provocare Festival of the Arts revised the date to a Monday morning and proposed an hour-long shoot, which Woolies agreed to allow.
"We're now able to accommodate the request to temporarily clear the rooftop for Spencer Tunick's group shot on a Monday morning during a traditionally slow trading period," a Woolworths spokesperson said on Saturday.
Thousands have signed up to pose for New York-based Tunick's shoot, which will turn the car park into a sea of posing nudes.
The artist has previously visited Melbourne in 2001 when around 5000 people posed in their birthday suits on the Princes Bridge.
Tunick also snapped nudes on the steps of the Sydney Opera House in 2010 and has staged striking shoots at New York's Grand Central Station and United Nations building.
Provocare festival's executive chairman John Lotton welcomed the supermarket's decision and urged participants to catch public transport on the morning of the shoot.
