Turnbull accused of burying bad news

Labor has accused the prime minister of trying to bury news of the loss of two ministers.

Labor has accused the federal government of trying to bury bad news by announcing the loss of two ministers during the holiday period.

Acting Labor Leader Tanya Plibersek said Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull had chosen a quiet day between Christmas and New Year to "take out the trash" - announcing Mal Brough would step aside as special minister of state and Jamie Briggs would quit as cities minister.

"He saved up all the bad news for a day between Christmas and New Year when he thought no one was listening," she told reporters in Sydney.
