Malcolm Turnbull has listed budget repair and major projects as being at the top of his government's agenda.

The prime minister met with his full ministry in Canberra on Thursday for the first time since their swearing in after a narrow election win on July 2.

"We have so much to do, so many projects ... we have a big task of budget repair," Mr Turnbull said at the opening of the meeting.
