Turnbull congratulates Theresa May

Malcolm Turnbull has offered his congratulations to incoming British Prime Minister Theresa May.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull is confident Theresa May will successfully steer Britain through its exit from the European Union.

Mr Turnbull congratulated the incoming British leader, saying he's delighted she will become the next British prime minister.

"I believe that Theresa May will ... do a great job, an outstanding job in leading Britain through this process, which they will find challenging from time to time," he told reporters in Canberra on Wednesday.
