Malcolm Turnbull says he is acting responsibly by seeking a review of the Safe Schools program.

Some coalition MPs have been critical of the anti-bullying program, saying it includes material that's extreme and aimed at sexualising children.

"I've asked the minister to examine the complaints and to report back to me - that is the responsible thing that any prime minister should do," Mr Turnbull told parliament on Tuesday.
