Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has received a briefing from his top bureaucrat about how the government can go ahead with its policies.

Prime Minister and Cabinet secretary Martin Parkinson is meeting Mr Turnbull in Canberra on Monday after the coalition claimed victory in the federal election.

He has delivered the department's incoming government brief.
