Children with diabetes will be saved from night-time blood tests in a $54 million coalition election pledge.
Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull announced on Sunday his government would give thousands of families of children with Type 1 diabetes continuous glucose monitoring devices.
Everyone aged under 21 with Type 1 diabetes - about 4000 young Australians - would be eligible for the subsidy, expected to save them $4000 a year, Mr Turnbull said in a statement.
