Malcolm Turnbull has declared Medicare will "never ever be privatised".

Labor is running an advertising campaign featuring former leader Bob Hawke which takes aim at the coalition's review of parts of the healthcare agency.

"Medicare will never ever be sold. Medicare is a core government service. It will always be delivered by the government," Mr Turnbull told reporters in northern NSW on Friday.
