Turnbull to reveal mental health shake-up

The federal government on Thursday will unveil its long-awaited reform plan for Australia's ailing mental health system.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull is set to unveil the government's plan to shake-up the mental health system.

Mr Turnbull and Health Minister Sussan Ley will announce the government's reform plan at Parliament House on Thursday, seven months after it released the damning results of a major review into the mental health system.

The National Mental Health Commission's 700-page report made 25 recommendations and was described by Ms Ley as painting a "disturbing" picture.
