Turnbull to run again at next election

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull says he will be contesting the next federal election, likely in 2019.

He may have lost a cabinet minister and leading a government well behind in opinion polls, but Malcolm Turnbull insists he's not going anywhere.

Ahead of the return of federal parliament after the break, the prime minister confirmed he will contest the next federal election.

"I'll be back here in 2019 seeking to persuade your listeners to vote for me and the return of the government," he told 2SM's John Laws on Friday.
