Turnbull visits NYPD operations centre

The NYPD's state-of-the-art joint operations centre has access to thousands of security cameras across New York as Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull found out.

Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has received a tour of the NYPD's state-of-the-art Joint Terrorism Taskforce and operations centre.

NYPD deputy commissioner for intelligence and counter terrorism John Miller led Mr Turnbull around what will be the security nerve centre for US President Donald Trump's New York visit on Thursday afternoon.

Mr Turnbull will meet with Mr Trump at a Manhattan hotel and the two leaders will then address the 75th Battle of the Coral Sea anniversary commemorative dinner on the US Intrepid aircraft carrier.
