A man who was fined for abusing Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull at a Brisbane pub has been charged with attempted murder over a separate incident.

Nicholas John Gordon, 26, was charged after the alleged attack on a woman in her 30s at a Carina Heights home just after midnight on Sunday.

Gordon made no application for bail with his matter briefly mentioned at Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.

He's been charged with one count each of attempted murder and contravention of a domestic violence order.

Gordon is not required to appear when his matter returns to court on June 2.

He previously made national headlines last month after hurling abuse at Mr Turnbull during a "politics in the pub" event in Brisbane's Carindale.

Gordon was later fined $756 for the incident with the prime minister.
